Your existing hardwood floors are an important part of your property and your investment and it is critical to realize that whilst most wooden floors, if looked after correctly, will outlast you. However certain wooden floors can only be sanded a limited number times before they deteriorate. Therefore it is important to use a good sealer to protect your floors at the outset and re-coat again before the sealer wears down to bare wood, especially in high traffic areas like passages and staircases. So when getting quotes, enquire what sealers are being used and how many coats will be applied, as normally 3 coats is recommended to protect the floor properly for most sealers.
We can offer a variety of Water based Sealers and solvent sealers which may vary according to price.
Water Based Polyurethane
- Environment friendly- no fumes
- Keeps the natural colour of your wood-does not darken or yellow over time.
- Touch dry after 2 hours after each coat.
- Can be buffed and coated in the future, saving you money.
- Air bubbles do not occur.
- Has a more natural appearance.
Solvent Based Polyurethane
- Has strong toxic fumes, cannot stay in the house.
- Yellow’s and darkens over time.
- Touch Dry in 6 to 8 hours.
- Cannot be buffed & coated in the future but rather re sanded and sealed from start.
- Prone to air bubbles/fisheyes which may be visible after sealing.
- High gloss finish.

DURAFLOR – MASTER
Water based 1-component polyurethane floor sealer. Ideal for interior hardwood flooring, parquet floors and wood work. For flooring in high-traffic areas like stairwells, hallways etc, we recommend that this product be strengthened with our hardener.
Product Range: Gloss, Silk-Matt, Matt.
GORI
GORI 51 High Traffic Floor Finish is a clear, water based (acrylic-polyurethane) floor finish for wooden flooring. This product is produced in Denmark.

Solvent Based Polyurethane Hardwood Sealers
Timbergleam (A50) Sealer
This product is locally produced and is generally used as a primer and first coat but can also be used on its own as a sealer with 3 coats applied. However it does not contain polyurethane and is therefore not as durable as polyurethane sealers. It is available in Satin and Gloss Finish.

Plascon PU 2000 Pure Coat Clear Gloss
This is a Polyurethane Enamel which is extremely durable and is resistant to alcohol, water, food etc. It dries to a high gloss finish with good marking resistance properties and is suitable for most areas except for heavy wheeled traffic and any high chemical resistance requirements.
Purecoat is extremely durable.
